Lois Marie DeMarr, age 88, of Lac Courte Oreilles, WI, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024.
Lois was born April 19, 1936, in Hayward, WI the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Coon) DeMarr. She was raised on the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation. As a small child her grandparents took her with them to live in the woods in order to protect her from being taken by the government and placed in a boarding school. Eventually, she did go away to school to further her education, followed by marriage and four children. Residing in Waukegan, IL, Lois worked for Abbott Labs of North Chicago for 17 years, eventually making her way back home to LCO, where she lived out her life. Lois passed away in her home, the house she and her five siblings were raised in and was exactly where she wanted to be. Lois was loved and a highly respected elder by so many who would always greet you with a smile and enthusiasm. She will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son David Gibson; daughter Donna "Punkin" Treadway-Lack; grandchildren Chad Paulson & Tanisha Chambers; great grandchildren Taylor Sandretto, Ariah Mustache & Johnathan Chambers; sisters Carole Estes & Ginny DeMarr; many nieces & nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents Edward & Myrtle; daughter Debi Gibson; son Don Gibson; sister Sandy Holland; brothers Eddie DeMarr & Harvey DeMarr Sr.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, January 6, 2025, at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
