Lois Wood Dolby passed away August 22, 2025, surround by her family. Born in 1941 on March 7 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Hilda Wood of Millville, DE.

Lois moved to Roxana Delaware from Brooklyn New York at the age of 5, moving to Millville, De where she attended Lord Baltimore School graduating in the class of 1959.

Lois married her high school sweetheart Bruce R. Dolby, Sr (her boyfriend) on September 12, 1959, where they moved to Bethany Beach to start their life together. They then moved to Ocean View where they started their family. The Dolby's moved to Clarksville, DE in 1970 and currently reside on Homestead Acres Way.

Lois's professional life leads her to many years in Real Estate, starting at Hickman Real Estate in 1968, and retiring from Coldwell Banker in 2019. She also received her RN degree from Delaware Technical Community college at the age of 40, which she was very proud of and would let you know it! Lois also spent many years riding the ambulance for Millville Fire Co where she was a member of the Auxiliary from 1978 till 1983. She made 100's of calls and when returning with a patient the next day would take the time to visit a patient dropped off the day before. Her caring for others being never undone. She often talked about her trips with different patients and her ambulance buddies, Johny & Marshall. She was always so proud of being able to volunteer her time for the Millville Fire Co.

Lois retired professionally in 2019, but not really; she was always busy in her office working on something for somebody, she was always ready to help others in need. Lois enjoyed working in her gardens and yard, which she was very proud of and loved. She loved the weekends with family and friends by the pool, especially when her grandchildren were all there; as well as many of their friends!

Lois and Bruce shared a love for travel visiting nearly 50 states and several countries, and while the places they traveled brought many fond memories – the meals that they shared traveling were the most remembered – a family trait that has since been passed down to the generations.

Lois is survived by her loving husband Bruce Ray Dolby, Sr, her husband of 65 years; sons, Bruce Ray Dolby, Jr. (Ellen), and Les Dolby, Sr. (Peggy). The lights of her life -her grandchildren, Les Dolby, Jr, Shelby Dolby (Lexi), Brooke Fillman (Andrew), Matt Dolby, and Will Dolby; her great grandchildren, Parker Ann Fillman and Myles Ray Dolby and her sister, Susan Timmons (the late Tom Timmons). She was very special to all her nephews and niece.

Lois was proceeded in death by her in-laws, Ray and Estella Dolby; her brother Gordon Wood and many of her close friends who she loved like family.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always for her quick wit, generosity, and wholehearted dedication to her family, friends, community, and those in need.

A visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970, where a celebration of Lois's life will begin at 1 PM.
