Lois (Helm) Goepel, age 95, of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 27, 2025, at Linden Hall- Friends Home in Kennett Square, PA. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Goepel with whom she shared 26 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Horace Yardley Helm and the late Helen (Marshall) Helm. Prior to Charles, she shared 28 years of marriage with David Teesdale, deceased in 2002.
Lois Goepel was a woman of many talents. She was a pianist and organist and taught music lessons in her home for many years. Eventually she switched to playing hand bells and was known to play them in church for the enjoyment of the congregation. Lois was also a seamstress who did repairs and alterations on clothing for her community as a way to make extra money.
When she married her second husband, Charles Goepel, Lois was introduced to the world of flying as Charles had a small, private plane. Over the years, they flew back and forth from their home in Delaware County, PA, to Long Neck, DE, where they had a second home. Their home in Delaware had its own runway so they could land on the property and walk to the front door. Lois came very close to getting a pilot’s license herself but had a hard time keeping her eyes open for the landing. This was the sticking point.
Lois and Charles retired and moved to Long Neck, Delaware, to live full time. They opened “The Creamy Cone,” a seasonal ice cream shop and miniature golf course, and Lois did the bookkeeping for the business. She was also a long-time member of Long Neck Methodist Church in Millsboro, DE.
Lois will be remembered for her love of music.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Linda Binkley and her husband, Dale; three grandchildren, Keith Binkley (Kimberly), Carolyn Abrams (Seth), and Megan Voshell (Gary); and six great-grandchildren, Justin and Cassidy (Adrian), Marcus and Scott, Shelby and Matthew; stepson, James Goepel; and stepdaughter, Diana Dietz. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Goepel.
Service and interment will be held privately. Contributions in her memory may be made to Friend Home in Kennett Square. https://fhkennett.org/donate/ - please include in the note section that your donation is in memory of Lois Goepel.
