Lois Nepsa Obituary

Published by Legacy from May 2 to May 9, 2025.
Joan "Sis" Nepsa, Age 95, of Antioch, TN (formerly of Pittsburgh), died Sunday, April 20, 2025, at home. Joan's family finds comfort in knowing she took her first breathe in Heaven on Easter Sunday because it is the day we acknowledge that death lost its power by what Jesus did for us. Loving mother of Andrea Fiala, Carol (Ron) Sorbo and Jo-Ann (Jamey) Ledford; cherished grandma of Britni (Kenny) Klein, Tony (Samantha) Sorbo and Alex Sorbo; and great grandmother "GG" to Sam and Savannah Klein and Aubrey and Keely Sorbo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and fur grandkids Jona, Sophie, JC, PeeWee and Layla.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 yrs. Andy "Sonny" Nepsa; her parents, Orlando and Mabel Scaramucci; in-laws, Tony and Albina Nepsa; sisters, Elizabeth Kennedy and Ruth Gallo (Frank); sister-in-law, Jean Nepsa Capor (Barney); son-in-law, Rick Fiala; and grandson, Jesse Ledford. It was said that Joan "Sis" and Andy "Sonny" were destined from birth. They were born on the same day on the same street by the same doctor on May 18, 1929, to parents who lived only a few houses apart. They grew up together and eventually married and had 3 daughters. They spent 60 years together till Andy passed away. Joan was a 1947 graduate of Penn Hills High School and a 1950 graduate as an RN of St. Francis School of Nursing. Her love of nursing led her to further her career, so at age 55 she went to Cleveland Clinic and became certified as a Wound and Ostomy Nurse. She spent 57 years in nursing, retiring at age 77. Joan loved nursing and caring for her many patients in home care, where she worked towards the end of her career. After retiring, she had a passion for baking, especially pies and cookies. She enjoyed watching movies on Hallmark, Up and Westerns. When she wasn't watching movies, you could find her doing her word search puzzles. She was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers cheering them on in Victory or defeat.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by Greg Brewer on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Wallace Chapel of Christ Church Nashville, 15354 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, TN 37211. The family will continue to celebrate Joan's life immediately following the service and invite everyone to join them in Carson Hall.
