She graduated from Creighton High School in 1955, where she played clarinet in the marching band. On February 6, 1960, she married Billie Dean Patras of Brunswick. Together they moved to California, where in 1963 they adopted their daughter, Brenda Sue. In 1971 they returned to Nebraska to farm and raise their family.

Lois worked in medical record-keeping and bookkeeping, later serving many years at Casey’s in Plainview until 2017. She also provided loving childcare for many families in the community.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Lois was a longtime secretary of her church, a devoted EMT for more than 35 years, a Food Bank volunteer, and active at the Senior Center. She loved her family dearly and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
