Lois Jane Raplee, 87, passed away on November 13, 2024 following lengthy residual impacts from a stroke suffered in February 2023. She was born on May 11, 1937 in East New York, Brooklyn. While residing in Boiling Springs, PA most recently, she and her late husband lived in Beverly Hills, FL for several years, moving there from Woodhaven, Queens in 1998.
The youngest daughter of the Rev. Warren W. Buchholtz and Charlotte (Sohl) Buchholtz, Lois attended Franklin K. Lane High School in Queens, NY and graduated from Barrington College in Rhode Island with a B.S. in Biology.
Lois spent the lion's share of her career as a teacher at Flushing Christian School where she gained a reputation as a tough, yet caring educator and tutor. She was also invested in Christian ministry from her youth working first with her father in evangelistic outreach in New York City. She also established, along with her husband, Christian Youth Fellowship, a multi-church youth ministry in Queens, NY. Additionally, she spent several summers working as a cook at Sunshine Acres, a Baptist youth camp in Napanoch, NY.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert John Raplee whom she married in 1965.
She was a loving mother to Charlene Zuljevic (Alex), John Raplee and Jane Nichols (Trevor); and grandmother to Tyler Nichols, Zachary Nichols and Dorothy Zuljevic.
She will be interred at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY with a Celebration of Life service to be scheduled at a later date in Carlisle, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sunshine Acres (www.sunshineacres.com).
