Lois Helen Russell

Lois Helen Russell, beloved wife, sister, stepmother, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025. She was born on July 9, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan. Lois was the cherished daughter of the late Carl and Irene Danielson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Edmund Raymond "Ray" Russell, with whom she shared a lifetime of partnership and devotion. She was also predeceased by her brother, Ralph Danielson. She is survived by her brother, Neil Danielson and her sister, Dolores Owen. Her family also extended through her stepchildren, Kenneth Russell, Diane (Kent) Woomer, Lauri Russell, and John (Renee) Russell.
Special thanks and gratitude is given to her caregivers at Marwood Nursing and Rehab, and to Susan Owen, Dale Gardner, Jenn Fecht and Bill Protasiewicz for their time and efforts attending to her home and personal affairs when she was unable to.
Lois dedicated 27 years to teaching third grade in the Port Huron Area School District, serving her students at Ruth Bacon Elementary and Thomas Edison schools. She was a no nonsense back to basics educator with an unwavering commitment to her students.
Lois was an animal lover at heart, especially devoted to her cats, whom she affectionately called her "babies." She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, curling up with a good book or enjoying classic black and white television shows.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel in Port Huron. A brief graveside memorial service and interment will be held at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Emmett, Michigan 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, as Lois will be laid to rest beside her beloved Ray.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or the St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
