Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday March 29th, 2026, Mrs. Lois M. Sewell, 96, loving wife of 64 years to the late LTC Leonard Glenn Sewell (U.S. Army Ret.).
She belonged to the Women’s Auxiliary, the Orchid Society, and the local Garden Club. Her hobbies included cultivating show roses, china painting, acrylic painting, ceramics and bowling on the military officer’s league. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and volunteered as a Girl Scout summer camp nurse. As a loving mother, she devoted her life to caring for her husband and children.
Family members include her son: Michael Sewell and wife Cindy; daughters: Cathy McNitt and husband Arthur, Lori Jann, Grace McArthur and husband Shaun; daughter-in-law: Sandra Sewell; 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son: Greg Sewell, granddaughter: Marie McNitt, and son in law: Bill Jann
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Ross celebrant. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 45 minutes prior to the service, beginning at 10:15 A.M., at the church.
