Loisene Hoy, 91, of Creola, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. She was born on May 4, 1934, in Vinton County, the daughter of the late Carol and Pearl (Harvey) Bowen.
Loisene was the former Vinton County Clerk of Courts. She loved genealogy and was active with the Vinton County Historical Society and wrote 2 books on genealogy. She enjoyed playing the piano. Loisene was also a pastor at several churches in the area.
Loisene is survived by her son, Robert Hoy Jr. of Bremen; daughters, Crystal Kornmiller of Creola and Katherine (Dwayne) Molihan of Zaleski; grandchildren, Angie Church of McArthur, Patty (Jason) Lamb of Hamden, Melissa (Eric) Thomas of Zaleski, Eugene (Misty) Hollingshead of McArthur, Scott Hoy of Logan, Dustin (Bobbi) Hoy of Albany, and Nikki Starkey of Morgantown, West Virginia; 16 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and sister, Golden Dawn May of Logan.
Loisene was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Sue Starkey; grandson, Brian Starkey; great grandson, Luke Hollingshead; and sister, Geraldine Edwards.
No services will be held. Interment will be in Bowen Cemetery, Vinton County. Arrangements are with the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St, McArthur.
