Steven B. Hoy, 67, of Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, May 10, 2025, at UPMC Altoona. He had been in declining health. Born November 18, 1957 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Malcolm G. and Ellen C. (Simmons) Hoy. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth R. Nolte in August 1981.
In addition to his wife of 43 years, he is survived by a brother, Douglas Hoy of Malone, NY; as well as, numerous in-laws and cousins.
Mr. Hoy was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Huntingdon.
He was a 1975 graduate of Burrell High School in Lower Burrell, PA. In 1977, he received an associate's degree from Penn State University, majoring in Recreation, Park and Tourism. He received his bachelor's degree in 1980 as a high honors graduate of Penn State College of Education at University Park, PA.
Mr. Hoy taught Special Education at Huntingdon Area School District for 25 years, retiring in 2006. After retirement he continued to serve as a long-term substitute teacher at Huntingdon Area School District until 2013.
He was an avid fisherman who loved playing the guitar. He was also an enthusiastic hockey fan and played junior hockey in his youth. He also loved fishing, canoeing, and camping with his wife as they traveled throughout the Adirondacks and the Northeastern United States, as well as, Canada. He was particularly fond of his furry feline friend, Puck.
At the request of Mr. Hoy there will be no public viewing. A memorial service to be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Huntingdon is being planned for a future date and will be announced when details are finalized.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in remembrance of Steven B. Hoy may be made to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 School House Hollow Rd., Huntingdon, PA 16652.
