In Loving Memory of Lola Imogene Affolter, 83, of Dickinson, TX passed away on August 16, 2025, at her home. Lola was born on January 10, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri to Leon and Louise Wallace. She has been a 42-year resident of Dickinson and formerly of Slidell, Louisiana for 16 years.
She graduated from Rio Hondo High School in Rio Hondo, Texas. Following graduation, she married the love of her life, Jimmy. They soon started their family and traveled and lived along the gulf coast wherever the Affolter Contracting projects took them. They were soon blessed with three wonderful children. When the children reached the junior high school age, the family settled in Slidell, LA, where Lola became actively involved in the Slidell Garden Club. She could share all the secrets to a beautiful rose garden. Lola also had a passion for ceramics, and her artistic talent would lead her to competitions where she received numerous awards for her work. In 1983, the family relocated to Dickinson, TX. While living there, Lola loved entertaining and gathering with family and friends. She deeply cherished her roles as a wife and mother, but above all, she adored being a grandmother. She made sure each grandchild knew how special they were to her. For many years she attended their events and performances, even traveling when she was able. When she no longer could attend in person, she looked forward to late-night visits and phone calls to stay updated on everyone.
Lola was a longtime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and for the past 5 years she attended Dickinson First United Methodist Church with her family.
The greatest gifts she shared and taught were faith, family, and love-values she lived by and passed on to everyone in her life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Lola is preceded in death by her parents Leon and Louise Wallace, her sister Bonnie Michal, and brother Darrell Wayne. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James D. Affolter; daughters Dwyla Cashiola and husband Joe, and Deborah Affolter; son Kenneth Affolter and wife Lynn; sisters Jeanette Doskocil and her husband Donald, and Neva Wallace; brothers Calvin Wallace and wife Zella; Tony Wallace and wife Mary Jo; grandchildren Erica Cashiola (Marina); Ryan Cashiola (Stacy); Danielle Click (Rodney); Ashley Van Horn (Chip); Kelsey Ficken (Kole); Amanda Tacquard (Jason); Lauren White (David); and Brittany Burdick (Justin); 15 great-grandchildren with another on the way, along with many extended family members.
