Lola Koletich Obituary

Lola "Laverne" Walker Koletich of Tenaha, TX passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025 at the young age of 95 years old. She was born April 8, 1930 in Lea County, New Mexico to Edgar and Ora Myrtle Walker.
Laverne was a gracious, loving, and joyful woman; devoted mom, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She loved the Lord with great devotion and studied her Bible daily. She was an excellent seamstress and talented in art and photography. She played the guitar and organ and champion at board and strategy games, continuing into her 90s. There was laughter unending at game time. Always carrying the most joyful smile on her face, her strength, cheerful spirit, and nurturing heart were a testament to the depth of her love. She was a crossword puzzle whiz, and her love of jigsaw puzzles was passed down through each generation to even her great-grandchildren. Laverne lovingly sewed heirloom Christmas stockings for each child, grandchild, their spouses, and great-grandchildren.
She traveled worldwide and resided in Texas, Georgia, and Hawaii.
Walker Family Reunions with her siblings and extended family were consistent throughout her life, and continue to this day. Just two weeks before her death, six of her grandchildren, their spouses, and her great-grandchildren surrounded her for one final reunion.
Everyone who met her loved her and felt loved by her. We were so very blessed to be her family.
She is preceded by her parents, son Everette Jobe, daughter Laura Jobe Kelly, husband Steve Koletich, brother Howard Walker, brother Dean Walker, brother Ray Walker, and sister Patsy Walker Carpenter.
Survived by daughter Margaret Jobe Laird (Ronee), sister Margaret Unkel, sister Janice Dickson (Gene), stepson Stephen John Koletich and grandchildren, Jessa Laird Denham (Fred), Judson Laird (Luana), Mackenzie Laird Vickery (Justin), Ben Laird (Lucy), Madison Laird Wood (Robert), Jordan Laird, Maggie Jobe Starks (Jason), Tim Jobe, Clay Kelly (Gilly), Kacy Kelly, Chandler Koletich and Turner Koletich, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who loved her.
She has 17 great-grandchildren whom she loved and cradled. Each one brought her immeasurable joy; her presence will forever be treasured in their hearts.
Visitation at Hawthorn Funeral Home, Carthage, TX will be at 1pm, Saturday, October 11, 2025. Funeral services follow at 2 pm. Burial after services in Rock Springs Cemetery, Kilgore, Texas, under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home.
