Mr. Claude Elbert Griffin Jr. was born August 30, 1956, in Jennings, Louisiana. He passed this life October 5, 2025, in Carthage, Texas. Claude was one of seven boys born to the marriage of Claude Elbert Griffin Sr. and Marguerite Shahan. Claude graduated high school from Logansport High School.
Claude was more than a father and husband, he was a steady presence, a loyal and constant source of support, and the heart and joy of his family. He was known for his quiet wit, kindness, dependability, his work ethic, and the deep love he had for his family, most especially for his two grandsons. Claude spent many hours mowing, and to him it was never just a chore but a source of peace and quiet satisfaction. He found his greatest joy in the outdoors, whether casting a line on a cool quiet morning, cheering from the sidelines watching his grandsons play the sports they loved, or enjoying brisk fall mornings in the woods hunting with his boys.
Claude's daughter, Stephanie, was one of his greatest joys. He treasured every moment with her, from quiet conversations to shared laughter, and took immense pride in the person she became. He was a steady source of strength during her hardest moments and with every trial they faced together, their bond only grew stronger. Claude was grateful for the joy his son-in-law Robert brought into Stephanie's life and into the family. He valued their relationship and the strong bond that grew over the years. He loved his grandsons fiercely, especially when they agreed to help him with "important projects" that mostly involved snacks and fun.
In his later years, Claude was blessed to find love again with Jackie, whose presence filled his days with warmth, companionship, and renewed happiness. Together, they built a life rich with laughter, cherished memories, and a deep bond that brought him great joy. He not only gained a wife but he also gained a family who welcomed him with open arms. He cherished the bond he built with Stacey, Kristen, and Pat over the years.
Claude also poured his heart and energy for 45 years into a long career in the oil and gas industry working his way up during employment at Getty Oil, Texaco, and finally retiring from Chevron. He took pride in his work and still enjoyed having monthly breakfasts with old coworkers.
He was preceded in death his parents Claude E. Griffin, Sr. and Marguerite Shahan Griffin, brothers George Raymond Hogg, Robert Hogg, & Donald Gene Hogg, and son-in-law Nick Anderson.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his loving wife Jackie Reeves Griffin; devoted daughter, Stephanie Howard and husband Robert; beloved grandchildren, Blakely Young and wife Katlyn, and Justiss Howard; stepdaughters, Stacey Carpenter and Kristen Carpenter; cherished mother-in-law, Pat Reeves; brothers Danny Griffin and wife Kim, Steve Hogg, Cleve Hogg and wife Patti; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends
