Lona E. Phillips, 99, Topeka, passed away December 10, 2023.
Lona was born October 3, 1924, in Oskaloosa, Kansas, to Loyd and Irene Barnard Angel. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School.
Lona married Kenneth Phillips on September 15, 1941, enjoying almost 60 years of marriage before he passed on May 28, 2001.
She worked for General Printing for 25 years as their proofreader until retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose, serving as Senior Regent for a time and was involved with them a long time. Lona loved playing bingo, playing cards, fishing, travelling with Kenneth, especially to Las Vegas, but more than anything, she loved to love her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Lona is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; son, Kenneth Alan Phillips on March 28, 2001; son-in-law, Rodger Green; and siblings, Shirley Best, Ray Angel, and Marieta Church.
She is survived by her children, Marcella Green, Dennis Phillips (Ruth), Mike Phillips (Lisa), Debbie Clausen, and Eddie Phillips (Pam); grandchildren, Brian, Stephen, and Kyle Green, Brenda Smith, Randy Phillips, Becky Burks, Chad Phillips, Jared Phillips, Nancy Donaldson, Shelby Stein, Kaylee Clausen, Shawn and Austin Phillips; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Dylan, Taylor, Alex and Kylie Green, Jordan and Remington Smith, Wyatt Burks, Jacob Phillips, Brent Hart, Kendyl Burks, Dylan and Hailey Phillips, Drake, Cash and Layla Stein, Brylee, Emerson, Tommy, Rory, Lane and Sawyer Phillips; great-great-grandchildren, Amaya and Enzo Smith; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday December 16, at Prairie Home Cemetery, 3430 NW Menoken Rd, Topeka, KS 66618.
Family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. following the graveside at the Dugout, 1545 SW Fairlawn Rd, Topeka, KS 66604.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice or Helping Hands Humane Society and sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka, Kansas, 66614.
