Lonest grew up in Hickory Hill, Louisiana, and attended Saint Richard's Catholic Church. He graduated from Marksville High School in 1987. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and, in February of 1991, Lonest married Monique of Zia Pueblo, New Mexico. Together, they raised two extraordinary sons, Jeremy Ryan and Brandon James. During his time in the Air Force, he earned his MBA. Lonest served his country for 20 years and honorably retired. Upon retirement, he transitioned into a career with The United States Department of
Veterans Affairs.
He was known by his family and friends as "Bubba," "LB," "Lon," or "Grandpa Lon." To know him was to love him.
He was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana, where he served as a dedicated Usher.
Lonest was preceded in death by his father; and his sister, Katrina Cleveland; as well as maternal and paternal grandparents. Lonest leaves to cherish his memory: his loving family,
Monique, Jeremy and Brandon; his mother, Stella Ann; siblings, Cynthia, Grabriel and Myron Bonton; and one grandson, Tristan James Bonton; along with a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and church members.
Lonest Bonton, Jr., 54, of Marksville, Louisiana passed on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at CHRISTUS St Francis Cabrini Hospital, in Alexandria, Louisiana.
A service celebrating his life and legacy will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, 830 Broadway Ave, Alexandria, LA 71302.
Public viewing will begin at 1:00 pm and continue until the start of service at 2:00 pm.
Lonest will be laid to rest in the St Richards Catholic Chapel Cemetery, in Marksville, Louisiana immediately following the service.

I had the extreme pleasure of working with Lonest at the Alexandria VA Medical Center. Lonest was a man that loved life. God bless him and his family.
