Lonnie Lee Herman, 85, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Niles, Michigan, surrounded by his family.
Lonnie was born on March 9, 1940, in Buchanan, Michigan to the late Albert Herman and Lorna (Bromley) Herman.
Along with his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maybell (Ralph) Herman; children, Lorna Jweihan and Starr Herman, and siblings, Alberta Luke, Dolores Weaver, and Dan Herman.
Left to cherish the memory of Lonnie are his children, Loretta Robbins, Lani Herman, and Stephen Herman; grandchildren. Jessica, Kyra, Charli, Skylar, Taylor, Aiya, Riley, Carter, Tait, and Kai, and 8 great grandchildren.
Lonnie was a balancing act of being a quiet person with an unexpected wit, bringing laughter to every gathering. As much as Lonnie loved to share a joke, he was equally committed to his role as a devoted family man.
His pride in serving the nation as a member of the United States Navy was eclipsed only by the joy he found in the company of his beloved grandchildren. In the golden years of his life, Lonnie relished the time spent on vacations, creating lasting memories and exploring new horizons with those he held dear.
We honor Lonnie's legacy with a smile in our hearts, as he would have wished. His gentle presence will forever be cherished and profoundly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
Visitation for Lonnie will be on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a Funeral Service to be held at 12:00pm at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Buchanan, Michigan.
The family has asked that everyone wear their funniest and silliest shirts in honor of Lonnie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
