Lonnie Wayne Manning, age 64, died in his home in Montclair, VA, on May 5, 2023. The eldest son of Lester and Marietta (Rita) Manning (McQuay), he was born on Oct. 13, 1958 in Rockford, Il.
Lonnie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served two tours. He achieved the rank of Major and worked on top secret electronics while stationed at Tempelhof Air Base in Berlin, Germany, where he met and married his first wife Renata. In 1980 he and his wife moved to Rockford, Illinois, where they welcomed their son, Nick. After three years they then moved back to Germany again. While in the Air Force, he attained his GED while in Germany. In 1985 Lonnie moved back to the US and in 1988, he married his second wife, Julia (Peitzmeier) and they had 5 children together. (MSI), a company that provided IT solutions to the U.S. Dept. of Defense and other federal agencies. One of his major programming accomplishments was the development of a complex interactive database of Holocaust Survivor and Victim Names. After more than 18 years, he sold MSI in 2017 and went on to found Future Company before retiring.
