Lora Jeanette Ort, 60, a resident of Milan, Tennessee, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2025, after battling glioblastoma, which was diagnosed in late fall of 2024.
She is survived by her children, Katherine (Richard) Ely, Jon Ort, Caroline Ort, and Ben (Madeline) Ort; her grandchildren, Jaida, Thomas, Oliver, Hudson, and Hank; her parents, Larry and Carolyn Withrow; her siblings, Andy (Leslie) Withrow and Greg (Shannon) Withrow; and her nieces and nephews, Lane, Aleah, Ryan, Victoria, Nora, and Jeremiah.
Lora was dearly loved and was an inspiring example of a devoted Christian believer with a servant's heart. She loved her family and her church deeply. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Milan, Tennessee, where she enjoyed worshipping God through singing in the choir. She cherished time at the beach and in the mountains, as well as shopping, family reunions, and holiday gatherings.
She was born on June 14, 1965, to Larry and Carolyn Withrow in Bradley County, Tennessee. She graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, where she excelled academically and athletically. She then earned a degree in Pre-Med Biology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, before choosing to be a stay-at-home mom during the formative years of her children. Later, she became a Registered Nurse and worked at DIVERSICARE of Martin, Tennessee, until her illness prevented her from continuing.
Lora's family will receive friends at First Baptist Church, Milan, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A celebration of life service will immediately follow, with Pastor Josh Sinquefield officiating with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan, Tennessee.
