Loreese Zegeer Farha, age 94, of Cedar Grove entered the Kingdom of heaven on March 30, 2011. Upon her arrival, she was greeted with those much-awaited words, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.�
Born on October 27, 1916 in Charleston, WV Loreese grew up on Washington Street East with her parents and seven siblings. Loreese graduated from Charleston High School in 1935. She attended Business College and worked as a comptometer Operator for several businesses in the Kanawha Valley, specifically Appalachian Poser, Frankenbergers, State of West Virginia department of Employment Security, Zain Brothers and the law offices of Sam MacCorkle, Bibby and Good and Walton Sheperd.
Loreese was a founding member of the Club 21 in Charleston, The Cedar Grove Garden Club and Cedar Grove Crotchet Club. She was a past Worthy Matron and Eastern Star Chapter 101.
In 1946, she married Sam Farha and together they established and operated Cedar Grove Furniture Company. When she married, she moved to Cedar Grove where she lived the remainder of her life.
Throughout her long life, her faith in the Lord never wavered. She proudly proclaimed God’s goodness and grace. She loved an exemplary life with a commitment to generosity and kindness to people of all walks in life. Loreese practiced the biblical teaching, “it is better to give than receive.� as she continuously went out of her way to serve and help others.
Loreese was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Montgomery, WV and a former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charleston.
Loreese is predeceased by her husband, Sam G. Farha; parents, Asad K. and Amelia Zegeer, her sisters, Alice Zegeer, Aileen Salamy and Evelyn Ghareeb; brothers, Ernest Zegeer and Victor Zegeer and nephews, Raymond Salamy and Eugene Farha.
She is survived by her brothers, David Zegeer and wife, Louise, Lexington, Kentucky and Harry Zegeer and wife, Francis McCarus Zegeer, Charleston, WV; nephews, Dr. John E. Zegeer, Richard Zegeer, Paul Zegeer, Alfred Salamy, John David Zegeer, Charles Zegeer, Jeffrey Ghareeb, Freddie Farha and Kim Farha. Surviving nieces are Rebecca Zegeer, Aileen Margaret Salters and Carol Magnano and special cousins, Annette Doumany and Lorena Ammar and special friend Ellen Hurst.
Special thanks to the staff of Hubbard Hospice House for their compassion and care to Loreese.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Charleston with The Rev. Susan J. Latimer, The Rev. Stan Holmes and The Very Rev. Father Olof H. Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
