Loren "Carl" Bowman

Loren "Carl" Bowman passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 87 at UT Medical Center. He was born on November 10, 1938, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of the late Loren C. Bowman and Elizabeth Broom Bowman.
Loren began his studies at the University of Florida before transferring to Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana, so he could support his family during illness. He graduated from Tri-State with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. His career included time with Brown Engineering, during which he was on loan to NASA in Huntsville, Alabama, as well as work with North American Rockwell in Cape Kennedy, Florida. In 1974, he joined TVA in Knoxville, Tennessee, and later continued his career with Performance Development Corporation in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Loren enjoyed model railroading, cheering on a variety of Florida sports teams, and reading technically detailed espionage and military science books.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Bowman; his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Ben King; his son, Tad Bowman; and his grandchildren: Sydney Bowman, Aiden Bowman, Carl King, and Alex King.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. David Koopman officiating. Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
