Loren Edward Kuhring, age 76, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 1:17 pm, Sunday, August 10, 2025, at his home in Effingham.
He was born on May 1, 1949, in Dieterich, Illinois, the son of Loren W. and Avis May (Hamilton) Kuhring.
After graduating high school, Loren joined the U.S. Army on April 2, 1969, in St. Louis, Missouri. He served his country honorably, working as a mechanic until his discharge on March 26, 1971. This period in the military was a significant chapter in Loren's life, instilling in him values of duty and commitment that he carried with him throughout his years. He then was united in marriage on February 12, 1972, to Belinda K. Willis at the Louisville Baptist Church and they shared 53 years of marriage together.
Loren was a man who found great joy in the outdoors; nature was his sanctuary. Whether tending to his meticulously maintained and beautifully landscaped yard or immersing himself in the tranquility of the natural world, he reveled in the simple pleasures that came from being outside. His remarkable mechanical skills extended beyond his time in the service; he was a true handyman who could fix just about anything. Loren's passion for working on cars and his ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues earned him the respect and admiration of those around him. He worked most of his working career for World Color Press in Effingham.
Family and friends were the core of Loren's existence. Known as a people person, he treasured the relationships he formed throughout his life. His warmth and devotion to his loved ones were evident to all who knew him. Loren was not only a cherished family member but also a steadfast friend whose presence enlivened gatherings and provided support to those he loved.
He is survived by his wife: Belinda K. Kuhring of Effingham; 2 daughters: Stacy Kuhring of Effingham, Charity Kuhring of Effingham; siblings: Cheryl (Neil) Barnett of Mt. Erie, Illinois, Kerry (Diane) Kuhring of Florida, Elaine (Jerry) Probst of Wheeler, and Michael (Jody) Kuhring of Dieterich; sister-in-law: Mary Casolari of Louisville; brother-in-law: Michael Willis of Louisville; and many nieces, and nephews.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents.
