Lorena M. Ritter, 85, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Brickyard Healthcare- Fountainview Terrace in La Porte, IN.
She was born August 12, 1938 in La Porte, Indiana. Her parents were Floyd E. Scott and Maxine (Kirkham) Scott, both who preceded her in death.
A lifelong resident of the area, Lorena was a graduate of La Porte High School, class of 1957. On August 3, 1957, she married George Ritter, who passed away in 2002. A homemaker, Lorena was a past member of the Pine Lake Grange. She loved crafts like knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing and decoupage. Lorena was an avid reader and a huge Elvis fan who finally got to see him in concert. More recently, she enjoyed traveling with senior bus groups and belonged to a card club with lifelong friends.
Lorena is survived by her two sons, George (Kim) Ritter Jr. of La Porte, IN, Gary Ritter of La Porte, IN; daughter, Gayle (Pete) Hill of Crowley, TX; four grandchildren, Erik (Michelle) Ritter, Andrea (Brent) Samford, Andrew (Talitha) Hill, Courtney Hill; five great-grandchildren, Talon Samford, Rhys Ritter, Emily Ritter, Emma Hill and Landyn Hill;
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Memorial service Saturday, April 13, 2024. Visitation is 10am to 11am with service starting at 11am. Pastor Jeff Zigler with La Porte First Church of God will be officiating. Cremation has taken place.
