Loretta E. Cooper, 69, entered peacefully into eternity on September 10, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on February 29, 1956, to Arthur and Edith Teed, Loretta was a lifelong resident of Orange County. After graduating from Valley Central High School, she met the love of her life one unforgettable evening at Richard’s Dairy Shed. Loretta and James A. Cooper were later married on August 23, 1975, beginning a journey of love and devotion that lasted 50 years. Together, they built a beautiful life, and Loretta joyfully dedicated herself to creating a warm, welcoming home where they raised their children, James Jr. and Laurel.

Faith was at the center of Loretta’s life. As a founding member of Amazing Grace Fellowship, she served faithfully in countless waysâ€"leading Tuesday Ladies Bible study, directing Christmas and Easter plays, guiding the Youth Group, and pouring her heart into Vacation Bible School. Her steadfast love, unwavering faith, and tireless service to her Lord and Savior leave a lasting legacy that will be remembered by all who knew her. Loretta also valued fellowship in the community and was a proud member of the Walden Chapter 560, Order of the Eastern Star.

Loretta’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her adoring husband of 50 years, James; her beloved daughter, Laurel Hicks (Sam); her devoted daughter-in-law, Kara Cooper; and her treasured grandchildren: Loretta Lynn Stanley (William), Sam Hicks (Macie), Asia Cooper (Ruthie Lynn), Austin Cooper (Donna Faye), and Lola Cooper (Elisha). She also leaves behind four precious great-grandchildrenâ€"Jim, Ace, Lottie, and Jeanna Faye Cooperâ€"who were the light of her later years, as well as her dear sister Linda Weller (Jeff) and many nieces and nephews.

She is reunited in heaven with her cherished son, James Cooper Jr., her loving parents, and her brother, Arthur D. Teed Jr.

Services honoring Loretta’s life and legacy will be held at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank Street, Walden, NY. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, September 14, from 4:00â€"8:00 pm. A prayer service will be held during the visitation, around 7pm. A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, September 15, at 11:00 am, with burial immediately following at Circleville Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Amazing Grace Fellowship (20 Warn Ave, Pine Bush, NY 12566), a ministry so dear to Loretta’s heart.
