Loretta Dasher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Royal Funeral Home, Inc. - Jesup on Dec. 2, 2025.
Loretta Dasher was born on November 11, 1950, in Orlando, Florida, to Florence and Ernest Houston. She peacefully departed this life on November 20, 2025, in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Loretta received her early education in Newark, New Jersey, and graduated from South Side High School. She went on to build a fulfilling career with the Star-Ledger Newspaper in Newark, where she worked faithfully for many years. After retiring, Loretta continued to pour into her community by tutoring children alongside her dear friend, Mamie Cook.

A devoted member of Israel Memorial AME Church in Newark, Loretta lived a life grounded in faith, kindness, and service.

Loretta was full of energy and curiosity. She loved crocheting, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku. She enjoyed running, walking, playing dominoes, and spending time around a good board game. Her joyful spirit made her a delight to be around.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave L. Dasher, Sr.; her siblings John, Ernest Jr., Willie, Hurbert, Charlie, and Lucille; her aunts and uncles; her cousin, Vergie Bryant; and her grandson, Derek Dixon.

Cherishing her memory are her daughter, Ingrid Houston; her son, Dave Dasher; her godson, John Wilson (Corsetta) and their three children; John, Jannaiah, and Joseph; Walter, Donna, Christina, Kim, and Brittany; her grandchildren, Jasmine Dixon, Kaitlin Johnson, and Aidan Dasher; her great-granddaughter, Nia Rose Dixon; her bonus great-granddaughters, Journee and Raiyne Reeves; her best friend and sister in Christ, Mamie Cook; her beloved dog, Loki; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 12 noon until 3:00 pm at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

A graveside will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 @ 11:00 am at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 10680 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
