Loretta Hall was born July 25,1937 in Birmingham, Alabama to Leon and Rosetta Hall. She accepted Christ and was baptized at age eight, she grew and was trained to follow Christ at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
She attended Hudson elementary school, after graduation she went on to attend Parker High School where she was very active: cheerleader, band, singing, dancing, and many academic subjects. After graduation, with a bright future ahead of her, she went to work at Hillman Jefferson Hospital where she met the love of her life and found, to her surprise, he carried the same last name as she was born with, his name Sidney J. Hall. They married on March 25, 1957, and to this union were born three sons, Sydney Jay, Darryl and Kasha.
Sidney joined the United States Air Force three months after their marriage. After basic training and R&E training he was stationed in Sumter South Carolina. Loretta quit her job and joined him where two of her boys were born. she traveled to many states and overseas with her family until his time and duty was finished.
Loretta and her family moved to San Mateo CA in 1986 where her husband Sidney had a job with United Airlines. She soon got a job with Mills Hospital where she retired after 30 years. Her family joined Pilgrim Baptist Church in 1968. Loretta worked and loved her church until she departed in 2018 and joined NBCC in Redwood City.
Loretta enjoyed her life attending many Christian schools, her passion was a love for God's people, she worked with the elders, the young people, young adults, missions, Sunday school and many other activities, she worked wherever the people needed her, and the Lord called her. She also was a leader for many years for BSF and CBS. She also served in the prison ministries and Hillcrest young women re-entry into society. She worked with the Bread of Life ministry feeding the hungry. A member of the board of Community Action Agency of San Mateo County, Inc. She was an active Hospice Volunteer for many years. Loretta lived a fulfilled life; she wrote a book called My Journey Through life.
She is now at home with the Lord and with her beloved Sidney, leaving to mourn her sons Sydney Jay and Rona; Darryl and Stephanie; Kasha and Shannan; her grandchildren: Terrance, Sidney Borel, Nina Rose, Samantha Syren, Strong Syd and Sodano. Great grandson Micah.
