New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Loretta Hoffpauir Morel, 88, who passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Entombment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery, in Jeanerette.
Pastor Keith Wheelahan will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia.
A longtime area resident, Mrs. Morel was born on February 2, 1937, in Orangefield, Texas, to the late John and Dorothy Turner Hoffpauir. In her younger years, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and then dedicated herself to taking care of her family. Mrs. Morel enjoyed many things, such as sewing, crocheting, chocolate candy, baking, and cooking delicious meals. However, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She always looked forward to having movie nights and working on arts and crafts with them.
Mrs. Morel was a devout Christian, having been baptized in April of 1970. Her faith in Christ lived in her heart forever. She was a dedicated member of the Living Church of God, where she served for 55 years.
Survivors include her children, Jan Patrick Morel, Jr. (MeLisa) of Foley, Alabama, William Craig Morel, Sr. (Donna), and Lisa Morel Delcambre of New Iberia; grandchildren, Chanlyn Delcambre, Patrick Delcambre, Craig Morel, Jr. (Eryn), Jenna Morel Latiolais (Kevin), Jill Morel, and Jeffery Morel (Bethany), Kenny Dupre; great grandchildren, Ethan David (Alisha Thammavongsa), Hannah David (Jordan Morvant), Lindsay Comeaux (Colin Faulk), Lily Morel, Camille Morel, Maggie Morel, Annie Morel, Ozzie Latiolais, Zoe Latiolais, Landen Aphaiyarath, and Liam Aphaiyarath; great great grandchildren, Leon David, Luka David, Harper Morvant, and Jett Morvant; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jan P. Morel, Sr.; sisters, Beverly Sedotal and Margie Hebert.
Pallbearers include Craig Morel, Sr., J.P. Morel, Jr., Craig Morel, Jr., Ethan David, Hannah David, Landen Aphaiyarath, and Lindsay Comeaux.
Mrs. Morel will be deeply missed. May her memory be a blessing.
