Loretta Ann Thayer

Loretta Ann Thayer of Macon, MO, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Macon Health Care Center the morning of November 25th, 2023.
Loretta was born on September 17, 1937 in Woodville, MO, the daughter of Homer and Nina Graves. Growing up on the farm, Loretta enjoyed helping with chores. She especially loved taking care of her chickens, her Cocker Spaniel named Blondie, and playing with her dolls.
At an early age she discovered a love for music and gravitated towards her grandmother's old piano, learning to play songs by ear before later learning to read music.
Loretta was united in marriage to her eternal love, Arthur Thayer on December 15, 1957. She helped and worked with Arthur at their restaurant and sanitation businesses. Later, she had worked as a CNA with Loch Haven Nursing Home.
Always full of life and love, Loretta enjoyed her bowling nights and kept busy with homecrafts, painting, gardening and numerous other hobbies. Through the years her love for music always flowered well into her retirement, volunteering to play in local churches and nursing homes.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, younger sister Dorothy and her loving husband of 60 years, Arthur. She is survived by her son, David Thayer and his wife Wendy of Macon, MO.
A private graveside service was held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Macon Senior Center or Alzheimer's Association.
