Mark Douglas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home - Macon on Feb. 2, 2026.
Mark Anthony Douglas, 64, of Macon, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 surrounded by family.

Mark was born on April 10, 1961, in Oceanside, CA, the son of Kelly L. Douglas and Patsy Jane (Hicks) Douglas. Mark graduated from Macon R-1 High School in 1979 he went on to complete a few semesters at Moberly Jr. College as well as working a few summers on the Railroad.

Mark's love for music started with his first drum set at a young age. It didn't matter about the type of music, Mark would hear the beat and join in. He played in a band that consist of a few band directors and James Tolson on Saxophone with a few others. He also had a love for boxing though it didn't pan out but loved to box with Keith Conboy.

Mark had a deep unconditional love for his family. From family reunions to Ruby Street Park and Aunt Jean's house, he always showed up. If anything needed to be done, Mark would do it. His voluntary mind of helping people went from detailing cars to helping in the Soup Kitchen in Quincy, IL. You can say he was a jack of all trades. He never drifted from his faith in God. He could quote a scripture without looking at his Bible. He was baptized on June 26, 2016, at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Jeffery Green. Mark loved life and lived it to the fullest with no regrets.

1 Corinthians 4:4 states, "For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but HE who judges me is the Lord."

Mark is survived by one son, Anthony I. Gholston; four daughters, Tiffany D. Houston of Macon, MO, Meranda R. Gholston of Macon, MO, Deeahana M. Gholston of Hannibal, MO, and Jessica S. Gholston of Quincy, IL; one brother, Tim Douglas and longtime girlfriend, Atonia Jones of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Dorinda M. Douglas of Columbia, MO; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly L. Douglas and Patsy Jane (Hicks) Douglas; two brothers, Kenneth L. Douglas and Michael A. Douglas; one grandson, Killian L. Walker; and one granddaughter, Shauntaya T. Houston.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeffery Green officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm, until the time of the service, Saturday, at the church. Family suggests memorials to the Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
