Loretta Ver Voorn (nee Locantore), a beloved wife, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after bravely facing a battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on September 27, 1952, in the Bronx, NY, Loretta lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for her family and animals.

Loretta was a proud graduate of St. Philip and James Grammar School and St. Catherine Academy, both located in the Bronx. She dedicated her professional life to finance, retiring as an Accounting Manager at Wade Odell Wade in Midland Park, NJ. Her career was just one aspect of her multifaceted personality; she was known to be an incredibly kind, considerate, and unselfish person, always caring for others above herself. Loretta’s love for animals, especially dogs, was unparalleled, reflecting her nurturing spirit.

Her love story with her husband Timothy began in a parking lot of the Phoenix Diner in Oakland. Timothy, captivated by her charm and beauty, knew instantly that he had found someone special. Their union of 25 years was filled with laughter, support, and a deep love that only grew stronger with time.

Loretta's zest for life extended to her many hobbies and interests. She found joy in painting by number, cherished music—even if she could not play the piano well—and reveled in games that challenged her mind. Loretta was also deeply committed to volunteering; she was a volunteer dog transporter for Bowling Green Rescue in Kentucky and took immense pride in her role at Chilton Memorial Hospital in the Surgical Services department, where she touched the hearts of her coworkers and patients alike.

In addition to her numerous accomplishments, Loretta is survived by her devoted husband of 25 loving years, Timothy Ver Voorn, nieces Noel Fletcher(Christopher) and Christine Schlarman, grandnieces Anabel and Molly Fletcher, and her dear aunt and uncle Frances and Arthur Spatarella, along with many cherished cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Eustachio and Anna Locantore, and her sister, Marguerite Schlarman.

A Mass will be held to celebrate Loretta’s life at St. Anthony RC Church in Butler, NJ, on May 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The impact of Loretta’s life will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kind spirit, unyielding love, and countless memories will be deeply missed but cherished by her family and friends. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory
