Lorette was born on October 6, 1939, on the Isle of Wight to Leonard and Dora Rugg.
In 1959, at the age of nineteen, Lorette married the love of her life, Neville Gritt. Neville had a dream of coming to America to attend Bible school and in 1963, they traveled on the Queen Mary to begin their lives in a new country.
In the summer of 1973, Neville accepted an invitation to preach at the Tabernacle in Sarasota, Florida. Their son Andrew was twelve and daughter Michelle, age five. The Gritt family remained in ministry at the Tabernacle until Neville retired in 2005. Presently, Lorette's granddaughter, Diana and her husband TJ Wilson carry the torch in serving as Family Pastor of the Tabernacle Church. To God be the glory!
Lorette spent her life loving her husband and supporting him in ministry and caring for her children and their children. In her eighties, she continued in ministry visiting those who were homebound.
On the morning of September 12th, Lorette was reunited with her first love, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lorette is preceded by her husband, Neville and son, Andrew and grandson, Timothy and sister, Joy Woods. Lorette is survived by her daughter, Michelle Cooper and daughter in law, Linda Gritt and sister, Fay Richards and nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The family will be hosting a service to honor Lorette on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 am at The Tabernacle in Sarasota, Florida.
4141 DeSoto Road
In lieu of flowers, donations might be made to the children and youth ministry of The Tabernacle Church.
A special thank you to Dawn Baize and Diana Wilson and Madeleine McKee for assisting Michelle in caring for her mom in the final three days of her life.
