With profound sorrow and aching hearts, we announce the passing of Lori Joan DeBrino, 75, who departed this life on Monday, January 13th, at her home in Rotterdam. Surrounded by love and the gentle embrace of her daughter and best friends, Lori's journey came to a peaceful close after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on February 18, 1949, to Joseph DeBrino and Margaret Mizzero in Schenectady, NY, Lori graced the world with her light and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. A lifelong resident, she attended local schools and graduated from Notre Dame High School. Retiring in 2007, Lori dedicated 37 years of service as an administrative assistant and inventory control specialist at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. In her retirement, she passionately volunteered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation as a Wish Granter. A devoted parent, grandparent, and friend, Lori's days were filled with her love for family and faith, being a lifelong communicant of St. Luke's Church. She found joy in travel, tequila, and good company, and was most known for her overwhelming generosity, kindness, and keen sense of humor. Lori is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Staci and Andrew Sacco and her grandchildren, Angelo, Ava, and Gia. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Terry DeBrino; nephew Ryan (Katie); niece Lauren (Tony); and countless friends and extended family. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Sunitha Sukumaran from NYOH for her constant, gracious care. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to one of Lori's dearest friends, Jeanne-who stood as an unwavering pillar of strength and love throughout her life and especially in her final days. The family would further like to thank Gracie, Lidia, and Sammie, as they shared countless cherished moments, laughter, and tears, becoming not just friends, but family in every sense of the word. The compassion, presence, and unwavering support from all of Lori's friends, cousins and extended family over the last few weeks has brought Lori immense comfort and peace, and their love will forever be a testament to the profound bonds they shared. A celebration of Lori's extraordinary life will be held on Saturday, January 18th, from 9–11 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, immediately followed by a Memorial Mass officiated by Father Isopo. Memorial contributions may be made in Lori's memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or St. Luke's Church of Schenectady, reflecting her compassionate spirit and enduring legacy. Arrangements are entrusted to Light's Funeral Home. Though the world feels dimmer without Lori, the love she shared will forever illuminate the paths of those who carry her memory in their hearts. Rest peacefully, Lori. You were, and always will be, deeply loved. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Lori, please visit our floral store.
