Thomas E. McLaughlin Jr.

Glenville- Thomas E. McLaughlin Jr, 76, of Glenville, NY, passed away on May 21, 2025 surrounded by his
family. Tom was born in Flushing Meadows, NY to Thomas E. McLaughlin and Frances Reddington McLaughlin on June 4, 1948.
Tom was a 1966 graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Iona University in 1970. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Naval Reserves, with active duty from 1971 to 1973. Tom worked as an Investment Officer for the NY State Comptroller's office for 37 years.
He truly enjoyed being actively involved in his children's lives through coaching sports, as a Boy Scout leader, and cheering them on from the sideline. Tom was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions, Tigers, and Redwings. He was a proud member of the Glenville Hill Fire Department for over 30 years, and he cherished his time there and the friendships he made. Tom also enjoyed beekeeping, golf, and exploring the Adirondacks.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Susan McLaughlin (Langley); his three children Daniel (Marina), Patrick (Dana), and Erin; his granddaughters Ella and Morgan, as well as his brothers Kevin (Beth), Brian (Pam), David (Suzanne), and James (Karen). He leaves behind a vast extended family, including numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Frances and his brothers, Paul and Peter.
As we remember Tom, let us celebrate his life-a life marked by love, a commitment to family and a unique sense of humor that can't be explained in words. He was the quintessential big brother, always wanting to know how you're doing, and leaving every conversation with his characteristic 'take it easy.' Tom will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the warmth he brought to our lives.
Visitation will be held at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville on May 31, 2025 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
