Lornell Marino Simon, 80 years old, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2022 after
a lengthy battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Lornell was the only child of Anthony
Marino and Felicia Marino, step-daughter of Beatrice Marino and step-sister of Craig
Cimo, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years,
Henry Simon, her daughter Stacey Glynn (Steven), and her five grandchildren whom
she adored: Evan Glynn (Maggie), Anna Moree (Corwin), Sarah Glynn, Erin Glynn, and
Adam Glynn. She is also survived by her step-brother Jon Cimo, many in-laws, nieces,
nephews, and treasured friends.
Lornell was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and attended St. Joseph Academy.
She met the love of her live while working at Michoud Assembly Center in New Orleans.
Lornell and Henry were married on November 14, 1964 at St. Rose de Lima Catholic
Church in New Orleans. They made Terrytown their home for 35 years, moving to
Mandeville in 2001. Lornell was beautiful inside and out. She was a true witness to her
Catholic faith and radiated love and grace to all those she encountered. Lornell was a
loving wife and mother and special to so many people. She had many childhood friends
and continued to enjoy their company during luncheons and playing Canasta. There are
no words to describe how much she was loved and how greatly she will be missed. May
her soul rest in peace.
A special thank you to Dr. Faizan Malik, the staff at Northshore Oncology & Mary Bird
Perkins Cancer Center, St. Tammany Home Health, and the many caring nurses,
physicians, and staff at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Many thanks also to the
homebound meal and Holy Communion ministries at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic
Church. We will always be grateful for the kindness and compassion you showed
Lornell and her family.
Services for Lornell will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Mary, Queen of Peace
Catholic Church in Mandeville, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m.
followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow. Private
inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her memory.
