Lorraine Ann Feltmeyer

Lorraine Ann Feltmeyer, age 91, of Lanark, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the kind of sparkle that made every room brighter. Lorraine had a knack for living her best life and never met a stranger-just friends she hadn't made yet.
Born on January 4, 1934, in Gratiot Township, Wisconsin, Lorraine was the daughter of Herman and Mabel (Chapman) Kant. She graduated with the Warren High School Class of 1952, where her smile probably lit up the hallways as much as it did everywhere else. She began her career as a receptionist at Western States Insurance Company of Freeport, charming everyone she met.
On July 1, 1955, Lorraine married the love of her life, Norman "Pete" Feltmeyer, at the Warren Methodist Church. Their love story spanned 61 wonderful years, full of laughter, partnership, and plenty of "Pete and Lorraine" adventures before his passing in 2016. Together, they raised their son, Mike, while sharing a life filled with family, faith, and fun.
Lorraine later worked at Microswitch – Honeywell for 26 ½ years, making her mark and earning a spot in the Microswitch Quarter-Century Club. She was also an active member of the Lanark United Methodist Church, where her warmth touched many lives.
Lorraine loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the absolute light of her life. She had an uncanny ability to make any moment fun, whether she was reading a book and having a glass of wine, hosting a "barage party", telling stories, or sneaking her famous treats to the little ones. Her joy was infectious, and her love was endless.
Lorraine's memory lives on in the hearts of her son, Mike (Darcie) Feltmeyer of Lanark; her three grandchildren, Jordan (Cindy) Feltmeyer of Lanark, Caleb (Amanda) Feltmeyer of Lake Summerset, and Logan (Eric) Gibbs of Coleta; and her six great-grandchildren, Ashtyn, Collins, Benton, Ryan, Mercer, and Meyer, who will all carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman "Pete"; her parents; two brothers, Lowell "Bud" Kant and Leo Kant; and two sisters, Margery Heidenreich and Mildred Carlson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Law Jones Eastland in Lanark, with a visitation prior to the service from 11am – 1pm. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Lanark Cemetery. Memorials may be made for the Lanark Library, Lanark Fire Department or the Lanark United Methodist Church.
