It is with profound sorrow, heavy hearts, and much love that we mourn the passing of Lorraine Lemire, at the young age of 99. A beloved matriarch, she was a cherished, loving, kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law.
Born in St. Malo Quebec, Canada, Lorraine's life was characterized by her warmth, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She was short in stature, but big in pride and love, the epitome of a true Québecois, touching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert Lemire, with whom she shared over 67 years of loving companionship. Together they built a home filled with laughter, love, and the wisdom that results from a lifetime of shared experiences. She was the strong, loving heart of her family and is survived by her sons, Larry (Teenia) Lemire, Normand (Susan) Lemire, and Gary (Janelle) Lemire; her grandchildren, Nick (Samantha) Lemire, Jessica Lemire, Daniel (Katherine) Lemire; and her great-grandchildren, Riley, Courtney and Milo Lemire, and Vera Rocque.
Lorraine was a special woman and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed. Life was devoted to her family and centered on her children, their spouses, and offspring, whom she adored and made the light of her life. As the mother of three sons, she possessed an essential sense of humor and was never afraid to laugh at herself or make the best of a less-than-ideal situation. She was always a joyful presence with her beauty, both inside and out. Her smile lit up every room and she filled her home with warmth and kindness. Lorraine had the unique ability to truly listen and share her wisdom when asked, and provided a wonderful example of a loving partner and parent. Independent and energetic until the end, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. Her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. We take solace in knowing she is together again with the love of her life, Albert. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived by a remarkable woman who lived with purpose, kindness, and generosity of spirit. May her soul rest in eternal peace and her memory continue to inspire us to live with the same love and compassion that she so effortlessly shared throughout her lifetime.
A Celebration of Lorraine's Life will be Friday, (May 9), from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford. The Funeral Service will be 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, (May 10), at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the House of Bread, 27 Chestnut Street, Hartford, CT 06120. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
