It was a wild ride from Bingham to Murray where Lorraine Hallet Poulsen came into this life as the daughter of Loren Albert and Aspen Thorne Hallett. She grew up in West Jordan and graduated Bingham High School and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended Church with a friend and neighbor in Midvale and with Brent in Salem.

Lorraine married Joe Poulsen where many adventures and travels began after Joe completed basic training in Colorado, and they lived in Nuremberg, Germany for four years and returned stateside to Ft. Worth, Seattle, and Kearns. Lorraine and Joe had two boys, Steven of Sandy, and Jonathan who married Saveth Heng in Cambodia and now lives in Thailand.

Lorraine worked at Sweet's Candy Company in Salt Lake City for years as a machine operator, and the go-to for repairs on the production line when the machine broke down. She was gifted at knowing how to fix machines. She divorced Joe and married Brent Swanner in Salem, UT, but later separated and lived with her dear sister Irene Williams in Midvale for the last 10 years or so where she passed away, Sunday, by surprise, in her sleep.

Lorraine will be remembered for her desires to add beauty to life and the world. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed camping, and had a special connection with animals. She even had a magpie pet who called her "Rainy!" She loved to garden, work on construction projects, and was skilled and creative with sewing, crafts and fine art. She and Irene attended weekly evening art lessons with Sydney Bowman for nearly 30 years.

Lorraine is survived by her two sons Steven and Jonathan (Saveth, and daughter Kaimira), her sister Irene, her ex-husband Joe Poulsen, and her separated husband Brent Swanner.

A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S State St, Midvale, UT on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be Friday, July 26, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd (10600 S.), Sandy, UT.
