Valerie Anderson

Valerie Park Anderson, 49, of Perry, Utah, returned home to her Heavenly Father on September 27, 2025.

Valerie was born on October 13, 1975, in Murray, Utah, to G. Rodney Park and Carolyn Jean Burr. She was raised in Bluffdale, Utah in a home filled with music, good humor, and love. A delightful and adorable little girl, she loved dancing, giggling, playing with cousins, caring for the many animals, playing the piano, and riding four wheelers in the hills behind her home.

She attended Bingham High School and Snow College before graduating from Weber State University in nursing, where she worked very hard and finished top of her class. On August 24, 1996, she married her eternal companion, Derek Anderson, in the Manti Utah Temple. Valerie loves Derek dearly. In 1998, they settled in Perry, Utah, where they raised their family and made their home for nearly 27 years.

Valerie had a zest for life and a talent for making every moment special. She loved going on family vacations, celebrating holidays, watching her kids play basketball, hiking, skiing, making desserts, playing the piano, driving, reading, crafting/sewing, and Pepsi. Her happiest moments were those spent with Derek and her family, whether gathered at home or exploring together somewhere in the outdoors.

Valerie was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in the Primary presidency and as a Cub Scout leader for many years. Some of her fondest memories were serving on the seminary council during high school and the institute council while at Snow College. She was also a dedicated registered nurse at Brigham City Hospital, but above all, she treasured her role as a mother. Valerie was a great mom.

Valerie will be remembered for her tenacity, hard work, and discipline, but also for her warmth, kindness, and ability to make everyone feel loved. Valerie was not gifted with an easy life. She endured her trials with as much grace as humanly possible, always meeting everyone who came to help with a smile and never forgetting to say "thank you".

The family cannot express enough gratitude to the members of her ward and friends who supported Valerie through her health challenges with love and compassion, providing many prayers, meals, and other acts of service. They would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Ovation Hospice and Myers Mortuary for exceptional service to Valerie and her family.

She was preceded in death by her incredible father, G. Rodney Park. We like to think she is with him now having a great time playing a piano duet.

Valerie is survived by her loving husband, Derek; her children Seth, Jacie, Bryn, and Carley Anderson; her beloved mother, Carolyn (Randall) Law; and siblings Laurel (Jim) Lehmitz, Cheryl (Garth) Felix, Ray (Andee) Park, James (Marlies) Park, and Spencer (Kristen) Park; her parents-in-law Curtis and Marsha Anderson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Perry Stake Center, 685 West 2250 South, Perry, Utah. Viewing's will be held on Friday, October 3, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Brigham City, 205 South 100 East, and again prior to the service on Saturday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the stake center.
