Lorraine Smith Obituary
10/05/1937 - 11/07/2025
Lorraine's father, Charles "Curly", worked on WPA projects and she moved with her parents around the country, until they settled in Alameda, California where Curly was employed at the Alameda Naval Air Station. Lorraine graduated from Alameda High School where she met Bob, the love of her life. After they married, Bob and Lorraine settled in Noe Valley where they lived for 60 years. Lorraine truly loved being a Noe Valley girl and had many neighborhood friends who she considered family. She was a legal secretary since she was a teenager and remained friends with the people she met at her first job. In 1996, Lorraine started working at the California Department of Justice, where she met many lifelong friends. Lorraine loved life and had many great times with her cherished friends and family. She was game to do everything from attending Sumo matches to going to the opera. Lorraine loved to laugh and had a positive attitude about everything she undertook in life. She was an avid reader and a big supporter of the Democratic party. Lorraine loved animals, especially her dog, Lexi. Lexi was pampered since she was adopted 7 years ago. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Mary and her husband, Bob. She is survived by her daughter Candice and her son Dan (Penelope). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Family Dog Rescue or St. Jude’s Research Hospital. A celebration of Lorraine's life will be at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 725 Diamond St, San Francisco, CA 94114, on Friday, November 14th at 10:00 a.m.

I will miss her so very much. I have known her since she was a teen. After she married my cousin Bob they would always come to visit my Mother when they were in SCal. Over the years we have kept in touch via email. I will miss her very much.

I´ll miss Lorraine on the streets of San Francisco. She was a beautiful lady who was very proud of her family. I had the honor of singing with her as a st Philip´s choir member when Father Mike Healy was our parish priest. Rest in peace, Lorraine and sing on with all the other angels Ginger

Lorraine was always fun to talk to. We sat together many years ago at bingo. I would meet her in the neighborhood and we talked about her crazy trip to DMV to get her Real ID so she could fly to attend her youngest grandson's graduation in Minnosota. She was always upbeat and loved going to Angela and Bob's for special occeasions. She and Candy were fun people to meet. I hope she and Bob are together and she also is seeing he special friend Rose O'Leary and having a laugh a minute. Rest in peace Lorraine. Fondly Judy O'Malley
