Louis Baumgardt Obituary

Louis Robert "Bob" Baumgardt
87 of Indianapolis, IN passed away May 5, 2010. He was born to Louis George and Blanche Reid (Pierce) Baumgardt September 22, 1922 in Indianapolis, IN. Bob was a graduate of Tech High School and was a Navy Veteran and served as an officer in World War II and Korean War. Bob was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church for almost 60 years where he participated and often led Kerygma and Disciples Bible studies, was a deacon, a trustee and an elder, sang in the choir and served as a Stephen's minister. Outside of the church, he participated in and led The Walk to Emmaus- a spiritual renewal experience through the Methodist Church, and Bible Study Fellowship. For many years, Bob served as an officer on the Board of Directors of the Foundation at Westminster Village North. Bob loved music and played the clarinet in various bands, including News Boys Band, Butler Band, and Athenaeum Orchestra. He was a member of the Kappa Kappa Psi, an honorary band fraternity. Bob was also a member of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge No. 398.
Bob was active in community service and was selected by the Indianapolis Mercator Club as its 1962 man-of-the-year for his efforts in the club's junior baseball project at Willard Park.
Bob worked for Eli Lilly Company for 37 years, retiring as a Marketing and Advertising Manger in 1984.
He was preceded in death by wife- Jo Marilyn (Brown) Baumgardt and brother- Donald Baumgardt.
Surviving are his children- Douglas Reid and Marilyn Louise Baumgardt, 2 grandchildren- Kate Dovgalyuk and Jason Baumgardt and great granddaughter, Stephanie Baumgardt. Memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday May 15, 2010 at Northminster Presbyterian Church with calling 1 hour prior.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Sound and Spirit Northminster Presbyterian Church Music Series and/or Westminster Village Foundation. Online condolences may be shared with the family at:
