Louis Capaldi died on January 26, 2026, after a period of declining health. Louis was born on June 18, 1946, in Canton, OH, to Natale A. Capaldi and Frances (Russo) Capaldi. He attended Glenwood High School and graduated from John Burroughs High School (Burbank, CA) in 1964. He attended Los Angeles City College and graduated from UCLA in 1968. Louis served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1972. He retired from the Stark County Regional Planning Commission after thirty years of service in April 1999.

Louis was an avid reader, music lover, and baseball fan, enjoying many Cleveland Indians/Guardians games. He was a model railroader and built several layouts during his life. Over the years, Louis volunteered his time with various entities, most recently with the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum (operating the train layout in the Street of Shops area).

Louis was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Maria (Dasco) and his parents. He is survived by sons Nathan (Melanie) Capaldi of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Samuel Capaldi of Los Angeles, CA, and Alex (Kim) Capaldi of Peachtree City, GA; brother Nathan (Sharon) Capaldi of Pasadena, CA; grandchildren Jacob and Zoe Capaldi of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Olivia Capaldi of Peachtree City, GA; sister-in-law Rosa (Joel) Dasco Skolnik, brother-in-law Pete (Kathy) Dasco, sister-in-law Antoinetta (Bill Jr.) Poulos; nieces and nephews Dominic (Kristin) Capaldi, Jonathan Skolnik, Aliza (Robbie) Chung, Sabina Skolnik, Billy Poulos III, Sam Poulos, Tricia Dasco, and Sabato Dasco; and numerous cousins.

Calling hours and services will be at Rossi Family Funeral Home on Friday, February 6, 2026, starting at 10 AM, with memorial service at 11 AM. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Canton, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Parish (formerly St. Anthony/All Saints Church), 1530 11th St. S.E., Canton, OH.
