Louis A. Johnson was born in Coffee County, Tennessee on February 6, 1932, and passed away on January 13, 2026. He graduated from Manchester Central High in 1949, graduated from Athens College in Athens, Alabama, in 1954 and Vanderbilt School of Religion in 1958.
Rev. Johnson served churches in the North Alabama Conference and Tennessee Conference for 41 years plus 20 more years after retirement, serving churches from Savannah to Crossville, Tennessee plus being District Superintendent of the Murfreesboro District for four years. He received the Harry Denman Award for Evangelism.
He was the third of eleven children born to Thomas and Lola Mae Johnson.
He enjoyed preaching and singing, was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to Bell Springs United Methodist Church Building Fund in care of Becky Shelton, 1541 M.G. England Rd., Manchester, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Anna Ross Johnson, brothers Fred, Leonard, Clayton, Herman and sisters Sarah Miller, Ellen Keith, Juanita Henegar and Luree McMahan.
He is survived by children Allene Lansford (Danny), Angela Davis (John), Ed Johnson (Candace) and L.A. Johnson, Jr., six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Services for Louis will be held at Manchester Funeral Home on Saturday, January 17, 2026, with Visitation beginning at 10:00am and Service beginning at 1:00pm. Internment will follow the service at Fountain Grove Cemetery. Manchester Funeral Home is honored to serve the Johnson family.
