A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette, LA for Louis Paul Ledet, Jr., affectionately known as L.P., 77, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones after a weekend long birthday celebration with family and friends.

Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette, LA on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of service.

Msgr. Russell J. Harrington, Retired Priest of Lafayette, LA, will officiate.

L.P. was born August 16, 1948, in Houma, LA. He was the beloved son of the late Louis Paul Ledet, Sr., and Willie Mae Ledet (née Eschete), both of Houma. A proud graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, L.P. earned his Bachelor's Degree in Geography in 1972 and a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning in 1975. While at USL, he was a devoted member of the Pride of Acadiana Marching Band, an experience he cherished throughout his life.

L.P. dedicated over 35 years of his professional life to Neel-Schaffer Engineering, where he was deeply respected for his work and leadership. His passion for city planning and infrastructure left a lasting imprint on the communities he served. A die-hard Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and New Orleans Saints fan, L.P. rarely missed a game. He also had an unshakable love for Mardi Gras-the music, the parades, the spirit of celebration. In 2013, he was honored to serve as King Belizaire XXII for the Krewe Tous Seul, a role he embraced with joy, pride and a flair for festivity.

L.P. was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Kay Pelloquin and her husband, Brent and Joey Ledet and his wife, Ann. He was the proud grandfather of Brad, Grace and Joshua Ledet and Abigail, Sophia, Libby and Nora Pelloquin.

L.P. leaves behind his devoted siblings, Wayne Ledet and his wife, Nancy, Ken Ledet and his wife, Phyllis, Glenn Ledet and his wife, Rhonda, Lorraine Marcel and her husband, Steve, Julia Ledet-godchild, Lisa Ledet and Cheryl Folse and her husband, David. He is also survived by his other godchild, Valerie Hornsby, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

For the past 19 years, L.P. shared his life with his beloved companion, Stephanie Maynard. Their deep and enduring partnership brought him joy, laughter and unwavering support.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Ledet and his brother-in-law, Rickey Cavalier.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Troy Martin, and to the care teams at NSI Home Health & Hospice, especially Wendy, McKenzie, Tina and Tamara and his sitter, Liz, for their compassionate care during L.P.'s final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in L.P.'s memory to the Ragin' Cajuns Athletic Foundation (RCAF), Reinhardt Drive, Lafayette, LA 70506, 337-482-5393, https://myrcaf.org-a cause close to his heart.

L.P. will be remembered for his fierce loyalty, generous spirit and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
