Louis Harrison Moore, 80, of Vanceboro, NC, passed away on May 14, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1944 in Plymouth, N.C to Samuel Harrison Moore and Savannah Ballard Moore. He was married to Irma Lee Boston in 1964.
Louis retired from Weyerhaeuser Company after more than thirty years of service. He was an U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran with an honorable discharge having earned several honors: National Defense Service Medal, PRCHT Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Louis was known for his love of the color black, history, news, sports, westerns, and western wear, particularly a good pair of cowboy boots. He enjoyed playing in the adult softball league, coaching Pop Warner football, and attending all school sports and events to support family and friends of the family. Louis had active memberships in the Washington County Union Alumni Association, Native American Society, and the Democratic National Convention.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters; Irma Moore Richardson (Napoleon, Jr), Inez Julia Johnson, and Iman June Moore. Grandsons; Brian R Owens, Kaleb D Moore-Lewis, and Tristian L Johnson. Sisters; Margie Combs, Shelia Lightfoot (Clarence), Savannah Shoates (Davie), and Marie Bell. In-Laws; Milton and Otessa Boston, Angela Boston, Herbert and Ola Faye Johnson, William Boston, and James Fields, Sr. ; and a host of loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter Isis Jakata Moore, his sisters; Kadell Fields, Adell Moore, Carolyn Moore, and Amie McNair; his brother Samuel Moore, Jr..
At the request of Louis, there will be no visitation. A private memorial service to honor his life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Washington County Union Alumni Association P.O. Box 644 Roper NC 27970.
