Louis "Lou" Passaretti, 81, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024.
Lou was born in Hartford, son of the late Joseph and Concetta (Musolino) Passaretti, grew up in Windsor, and attended AI Prince Technical School. After graduation, he was employed as a mechanic before taking a position with General Elevators, Local Union 91, as an elevator repairman, retiring after over 40 years of service. In his retirement, he needed to stay active, so he worked for the State of Connecticut as an Inspector for the next ten years. Lou also gave back to his community by volunteering his time and talents at the Enfield Food Pantry.
Lou was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He will fondly be remembered as a man who was committed to his family and did everything he could to provide for them. Lou taught his children the value of family, discipline, and respect and his strong work ethic and drive inspired them to be the best they could be every day. He was not only a father to his own children, but a positive role model to his extended family, friends, and neighborhood children as well. Lou was a man of conviction and had a strong set of beliefs that centered around being kind to others, doing the right thing, and helping others whenever possible.
Lou was a Jack-of-all-Trades and a true DIY man. He could build and fix just about anything and was in his happy place when he was tinkering around and working on a project. Lou loved woodworking and spent a lot of his free time making airplanes, boats, trains, and other items. He enjoyed NASCAR, making model cars, and racing remote control cars with his grandchildren. In his younger years, Lou was an avid bowler and played in several leagues and was president of his CB club. He took much pleasure in watching Star Trek, old Western movies, and listening to Johnny Cash quite loudly and especially early on Saturday mornings. Lou also loved to travel with his family, and in his retirement, enjoyed cruising.
Lou is survived by his children, Debra Bologna of Stafford, and Joseph Passaretti and his wife Jessica of Plainville; grandchildren, Geno L. Bologna, Joseph Bologna, Louis J. Passaretti, and Alida Rose Passaretti; his sister, Joann Carlson and her husband Larry; son-in-law, Geno B. Bologna; as well as other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Angela Melican.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, October 5, 9-10 a.m., with a Prayer Service at 10 a.m., at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.
Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery.
