Louis (Lou) J. Peca, age 84 of Lockport, New York went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2025. Born June 4, 1941 in Batavia, New York. He graduated from DeSales Catholic High School in 1958, then obtained his BS in Chemistry from Niagara University in 1962, and his MA in Public Administration at the University of Northern Colorado in 1977. He was Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF in May 1963. He served his Country for 22 years in Vietnam, Thailand as a Tactical Radar Controller. His stateside assignments included USAF Advisor to the ll7'h TACS in Savannah, GA., Standard Evaluation Officer at the 12th TACS, Homestead AFB, Florida, went remote to Osan AB Korea in 1974 at the Command-and-Control Center, Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas 1975-1979. His final assignment was to the USAF Tactical Air Warfare Center, Eglin AFB, Florida as an Operational Test and Evaluator for the new Radar and Communications equipment. He retired as a Major on August 1, 1984. In 1985, he worked for a Government Contractor in charge of a team of System Analysists. He retired again in
Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Lou was predeceased by his wife Betty (Jackson) and three adopted children Cyndi Hopkins, Mark Hopkins and Glenn Helmly in March 2004 after a long illness, His parents Anthony J. and Emma Jane (Marotta), four siblings, John, Thomas, Paulette (Pewsey), Kathleen Peca and several nieces and nephews. Lou was active at the Hurlburt Field Catholic Chapel where he was a member of the Choir. Lou was a member of the Club Germania when he first met his wife Therese Sapone Peca. They married on July 7'h, 2012. Lou adopted Therese's two children, Cynthia Sapone Binsfield and Guy A. Sapone. They called Lou their dad. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mr. Peca will be interred with Full Military Honors at Beal Memorial Cemetery, in Fort Walton Beach.
