Louis Francis Taylor, 82, of South Bend, IN passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at the Center for Hospice Care due to complications of a long-term illness.
"Louie" was born on August 27, 1942 in South Bend to the late Russell A. and Mary A. Taylor.
Left to cherish the memory of Louie are his loving wife of 60 years, Susan M. (Schaut) Taylor and their son, Russell (Blanca) Taylor; siblings brother John (Joan) Taylor, sister Russie McClintic; and many other family members and friends who dearly loved him.
Louie graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1960. There is where he met his high school sweetheart, Susie Schaut. They were married at the Cathedral of St. James in South Bend on October 10, 1964.
Louie had a lifelong career in the forklift/industrial truck business. He retired from that profession after 40+ years on September 18, 2006. During his retirement, he had quite a few hobbies that included gardening, listening to 50's and 60's music, evening bon fires with friends and family, and automobiles. But for those who knew Louie, we all know his biggest passion was with cars!! He enjoyed cruising, whether if it was in his Chevy Impala convertible or Ford Mustang GT convertible, and to Bonnie Doons Drive-In in Mishawaka every Sunday afternoon to catch up and socialize with his cruising friends!
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the entire staff at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka for the care and compassion they provided during his time there.
Visitation for Louie will be 3:00pm – 7:00pm on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, Mayflower Rd. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:30am on Friday, January 3, 2025 in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614 in memory of Louie Taylor.
