ROCKVILLE-Louis Wayne Venema, 76, of Rockville, Indiana passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Greenwood Health Care Center. He was a retired engineering supervisor for MCI Telecommunications. He was born April 1, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to the late William Venema and Jennie Janet Feyen Venema.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Pamela Anne Barth Venema whom he married September 7, 1973, in Phoenix, Arizona; also surviving, two sons, Scott Venema of Clinton and David (Ann Marie) Venema of Munster; two sisters, Judith Dombrow of Frederick, Maryland and Diane Zandstra of Grand Rapids, Michigan; four grandchildren, Cody Cook, Noel, Meaghan and Kimber Venema. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Venema.
He was a 1964 graduate of Chicago Christian High School and received a BA degree from Phoenix College. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1966-1968. He attended the Montezuma Independent Baptist Church. He was a Life Member of the National Model Railroad Association. He was an active volunteer with the Parke County Food Pantry and a supporter of Moody Bible Institute and Trinity Christian College.
Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 26, at Independent Baptist Church, 760 N. Jefferson Street, Montezuma with Pastor Keith B. McIntyre officiating. Burial with military graveside honors by Parke County Veterans will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is from 12 noon until 2:00 pm at the church.
Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Salvation Army of Parke County, c/o Fountain Trust Bank, 1250 N. Lincoln Road, Rockville, Indiana in his memory.
