     Louis H. Wessling was born February 13, 1939, to Raymond and Lucille (Neuerburg) Wessling in Carroll, Iowa. He attended school at St. Peter and Paul Catholic School. On February 11, 1961, Louis married Jolene Ann Grossman at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple was blessed with 3 children, Jeffery, Steven and Tamera. Louis started working at the age of 15 at Deep Rock Station in Carroll. In 1962, the couple moved to Breda and he then worked at Marcus Redermyer’s Repair Shop. He then worked at Anthofer Repair Shop and in 1979 he opened his own repair shop, Louie’s Repair. On nights and weekends, Louis worked as a hired farm hand.

     Louis enjoyed rebuilding antique cars including a black 1962 Chevy Impala and many others. He took many trips driving the old cars. Louis enjoyed driving and would spend hours checking out what was going on around Dunlap, striking up a conversation with many people. He loved working on anything, especially tractors and lawnmowers. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, garage sales and flea markets.

     Louis died on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Azria Health Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 86 years, five months and 27 days.

     Louis was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff Wessling; grandson, Mark Wessling; and brother-in-law, Walter Oswald. He is survived by his wife, Jolene Wessling of Dunlap; son, Steven Wessling and his wife Denise of Johnson City, Tennessee; daughter, Tamera and her husband Ed Magee of Floodwood, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Doris and her husband Chris Mosman of Winfield, Iowa; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren plus one on the way; twin brother, Dennis Wessling and his wife Le Ann of Kearney, Missouri; brother, Eugene Wessling and his wife Joyce of Carroll; sister, Marlene Oswald of Adams, Minnesota; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
