Louise Robertson Hodgson died peacefully on Sept. 2, 2025 at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital days before her 91st birthday. The youngest child of Dr. Robert C. Robertson and Frankie C. Robertson, Louise was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee alongside her older sister Elizabeth "Betsy" Smith. She followed in her sister's footsteps by beginning her adult life in Pennsylvania at Swarthmore College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Louise continued living in Pennsylvania for the rest of her life, going on to marry T. Burke Hodgson and raise their two daughters, Marion Hodgson and Heather Bricklin, at their home in Glenside, PA.As the children grew older, Louise went on to support them as a single mother, continuing to put her degree from Swarthmore to use in newsrooms, libraries, and schools. An avid dog trainer and breeder, Louise made the most of her early retirement, participating in dog herding, obedience, and agility competitions throughout the Northeast Seaboard. Louise and her dogs would later take to therapy dog training, and provide comforting visits to the residents of local retirement homes. Louise also traveled far and wide long into her retirement years, making regular visits to the Condray Family Reunion in Arkansas annually, and to visit her grandchildren in California. Her desire to remain connected with her roots also took her on multiple trips to Ireland as she explored the sights and sounds her ancestors lived in and sought to learn more about them. She was preceded in death by her daughter Marion (1962 to 1992), her sister Betsy (1930 to 2012), and her former husband and lifelong friend Burke (1935 to 2024). She is survived by her daughter Heather, four grandchildren and one great granddaughter, and three nephews. Louise is being laid to rest alongside her sister at the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Moorestown, NJ in a private service. There will be a memorial service , Friday, September 19, 2025 for family and friends at 1:15 PM at Foulkeways of Gwynedd, 1120 Meetinghouse Road, Gwynedd, PA 19436. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to your favorite animal shelter
