Louise Sharpe of Fort Washington, PA, departed this life on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, at Dresher Hill Rehab.
Louise was born on August 28th, 1943, in Bronx, NY to the late French and Marie Sharpe. They lived in White Plains, NY until about 1955. She then moved to Philadelphia and attended West Catholic High for Girls where she graduated in 1961.
After graduating she attended nursing school at Philadelphia General Hospital, where she obtained her LPN license. She worked for a dermatologist office, while attending Thomas Jefferson University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Upon graduation, she was employed at several hospitals in the Philadelphia area, in many different departments and positions, such as emergency room nurse, intensive care nurse and geriatrics. She also worked at Genex doing medical management. Her nursing career ended in 2010 when she retired from Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chestnut Hill.
In October 2008, she was wed to Charles Smith of Ft. Washington, PA and they remained married until her death.
Louise enjoyed: sewing, crocheting, gardening, playing the piano, thrifting, and hanging out with her beloved grandson, who melted her heart from the day he arrived. She was a quiet, strong woman, who was fiercely independent and reserved.
Louise leaves behind: her husband, Charles Smith, daughter, Melinda Howell, grandson, Alexander Akers, and son-in-law, Richard Southerland.
Private services will be a later date.
